Melissa is our CEO and Director - She is a second-generation stylist having been born into the hairdressing industry. With over 37 years of experience as a full-time stylist, she is our wealth of knowledge and inspiration.

Debs embarked on her hairstyling journey back in 1997 in Christchurch. Since then, she has gained experience working in Auckland and Wellington before joining the Aboki team in 2018.

Janus is a colour specialist with a strong technical background which encompasses cutting, styling and various chemical services. Janus strives to tailor make and personalise each client experience and interaction within the work enviroment, making each time your first time!

MASTER COLOURIST

 

Meet Damask, our senior stylist with a wealth of experience! She embarked on her hairdressing journey in 2009, starting in Wellington and honing her skills in two top salons before returning to her hometown, Nelson.

Ngaroma has been hairdressing for 15 years, starting her journey as a stylist in a busy inner city salon in Wellington. From there she moved to Australia and worked in some incredible salons.

Faye is our star! She’s been at Aboki for nearly 26 years after previously owning her own salon for 28 years!

With almost 60 years of hairdressing, she is a phenomenal hairdresser and an incredible person to know, inspiring her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter to follow in her footsteps.

Annie has been hairdressing for over 35 years and has been with the great team at Aboki since 2018 after shifting to Nelson from Christchurch, where she has owned her own salon.

EXECUTIVE STYLIST + CURL SPECIALIST

Hannah is our CURL QUEEN! Having naturally curly hair, Hannah loves to work with her clients' natural curls & transforming curl shapes to create the perfect look that clients can look after at home.

SENIOR STYLIST

Sarah started working at Aboki as an apprentice in 2000, during that time she trained in cutting and styling with Fox Stevens. Sarah has been hairdressing since completing her apprenticeship at Aboki in 2005 – she loves colour work and cutting!

SENIOR STYLIST ~ On Maternity leave until Jan 2025

Jess has been hairdressing for 15 years at Aboki - As well as doing her apprenticeship through Aboki, she has completed the two-year advanced cutting training with Fox Stevens.

 

She loves creating personalised colours and cuts for her clients. 

ADVANCED EMERGING STYLIST

Lizzy is a skilled and emerging stylist who is quickly building a loyal clientele. She is particularly talented with colour, and her clients love her creative and personalized transformations. 

ADVANCED EMERGING STYLIST + WEDDING/EVENT SPECIALIST

Lily is our passionate and creative stylist from Colorado, USA. She is set to complete her hairdressing training through Aboki this year.

Eden is an emerging stylist here at Aboki and loves being part of the team. She particularly loves being creative with colour creating beautiful glossy colours and bright and dimensional blondes.

Grace is one of our talented stylists and has been apart of the Aboki Family since starting her apprenticeship in 2021. Grace has undergone two years of extensive cutting training from well-renowned Fox Steven’s and is continuously investing in her education and creative community.

Sequoia is a dedicated hairdressing apprentice at Aboki Academy, currently honing her skills under the guidance of experienced stylists.

Combining a love for the art of styling with a strong work ethic and collaborative spirit, Sequoia is committed to excellence in her craft.

Alana is a perfectionist with a passion for making people feel beautiful through hairstyling. When she's not in the salon, she enjoys exploring the outdoors. With a lifelong love for art and beauty, Alana initially pursued beauty therapy, taking a year-long part-time program at NMIT.

MARKETING MANAGER, HAIR & MAKEUP ARTIST, + CURL SPECIALIST

Jaz is Aboki's full-time Marketing Manager; everything online is managed through her - From our social media to our website, newsletters, promotions, online booking systems etc.

PART-TIME RECEPTIONIST

​

Tracee has been a part of the Aboki team for over 20 years. As a part-time receptionist, Tracee is the first point of contact for many of our clients, and she always goes above and beyond to make sure they have a positive experience.
